Doubletree by Hilton Edinburgh City
Doubletree by Hilton Edinburgh City is one of the more historic hotels in the Doubletree by Hilton Collection. This hotel was built in 1892 and is in the heart of the city of Edinburgh, extremely close to famous sites of Edinburgh such as Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile. A crucial aspect of this project was to ensure that the lighting matched the hotel’s design and was innkeeping with the historic exterior and stylish modern interior elements. We made sure to keep this in mind when replacing the lighting in the back of house areas such as kitchens, stairwells and the basement aswell as guest facing areas such as toilets, corridors and conference areas. Conference Area
One area that needed increased uniformity was the Conference area. This space had previously been filled with a variety of different fittings including a mixture of 5ft and 6ft fittings and singular and double fittings. To improve the consistency of lighting, we replaced the existing fittings with the Ansell 5ft LED Tornado fitting. This product is fitted with emergency functionality, perfect for a space which is so guest focused where safety is of paramount importance. Additionally, we replaced 2D 28W fittings with the Ansell LED 13W Disco Bulkhead. The LED products chosen for this area, improved energy efficiency, safety and the overall look of the conference area, making it much more pleasing for users of the space.
The Products
This project required a wide variety of replacements, from downlights and compact fluorescents to gear trays and emergency signage. The top products used in this project were the Ansell Disco LED Downlight, used to replace 2D Compact fluorescent fittings. We also used the Ansell Tordnao 5ft LED batten to replace 5ft fluorescent tube fittings. We also upgraded the 11W compact fluorescents for the stylish Philips Master LED 8.5W GLS , giving the table lamps a much more modern look.
