The Crowne Plaza Harrogate is a gorgeous hotel right in the centre of the beautiful Victorian spa town of Harrogate. The hotel has a wide range of amenities and is a popular choice for business, pleasure and leisure. The lighting project we completed with Crowne Plaza Harrogate was an essential part of the wide vision and goals of Valor hospitality. It is their mission to have 100% LED lighting across all hotel sites and this project’s completion was a crucial contribution to this mission.

The Harewood Suite
The Crowne Plaza Harrogate is a popular hotel for business and events and conferences with its event friendly spaces like the Harewood Suite. This area originally had 35W Halogen downlights across the spaces used with dimming controls. However, our clients decided that there was no longer a need for these downlights to be dimmable, therefore we replaced the downlights with the Philips CorePro 3.5W GU10 alongside the Ansell Evofire fitting. The lack of need for a dimmable GU10 meant that we could supply a more cost-effective solution, saving the hotel more money on the overall project.
The Products
This project included various back of house areas where it was crucial to light areas for staff to maximise illumination and efficiency. We replaced the lighting in various areas where the existing installation was a 2FT T8 Tube and we replaced these with the Philips LED Master 2Ft Tube. We also switched twin and single 4FT and 5FT battens with the Ansell Tornado. Switching to this fitting meant that we would not sacrifice any functionality of the fitting as these Ansell bulkheads are fitted with integrated emergency functions, perfect for corridors and back of house areas. These battens also have built in microwave sensors, so the lamps turn off automatically when not in use. The IP65 non-corrosive element means that the fixture will last a long time with extra protection from moisture and dust. Finally, we switched 16W 2D fittings with the Ansell Disco LED Bulkhead again fitted with emergency function, a perfect fitting for stairwells where it is essential to have emergency lighting.

Small Changes, Big Impact
The lighting upgrade at Crowne Plaza Harrogate enhanced the specification of the products which means that the hotel no longer needs to worry about replacing the lighting for a long time. A project of this nature, with guest facing and back of house areas being upgraded, means that guest experience aswell as staff experience is improved.
This project means that Crowne Plaza Harrogate is a much more energy efficient and green establishment, saving 70% on energy through their upgraded lighting.
