Spotlight On…
Bedrooms
Our clients at Best Western Derby Station requested lighting upgrades in various areas of their hotel therefore we focused on areas across the hotel including the reception area, restaurant and back of house areas like storerooms, corridors and offices. A primary concern was the replacement of the lighting in the 88 bedrooms across the hotel. The bedrooms required four different types of lighting in each room that needed upgrading. We upgraded 16W 2D fittings to the 8W Ansell Disco LED Downlight, chosen for its slim design and appearance. We switched the 2 Pin compact fluorescent wall lights with the Philips Corepro LED 6 W PLC lamp, a perfect choice to add layers of warmth to bedroom settings. We also changed the 4ft and 5ft T8 single battens for LED Vance Linear fittings. It is essential to get bedroom illumination right and add depth and warmth to hotel bedrooms through lighting.
The Products
Upgrading to LED in these areas which are required to be powered on 24 hours, increases the savings exponentially. In these areas we ensured that durable lighting was provided, alongside emergency functionality to meet the safety requirements of the hotel areas. We upgraded the 2D 16W emergency fittings with the 16W Ansell Disco LED Fitting with integrated emergency. We also switched 50W Son T circular downlights with the 18W Philips True Force LED HPL lamp as well as swapping 250W Son T Floodlights with LedVance LED 80W Floodlight. The huge reduction in wattages on these lamps will save the hotel a great deal of money on electricity costs.

The Bottom Line…
Small Changes, Big Impact
Our project with Best Western Derby Station Hotel focused on enhancing guest comfort and operational efficiency. With the hotel’s commitment to simplicity, we meticulously upgraded lighting across guest and employee areas.
