Return on Investment Case Study…
Holiday Inn Express Redditch
The Holiday Inn Express in Redditch is known for its welcoming atmosphere, so it was important that we were mindful of this characteristic over the duration of our project. The LED lighting project conducted at Holiday Inn Express Redditch is a great example of both interior and exterior areas having lighting replaced for LED lighting. Externally we replaced car park lighting, external wall lights and bollards and internally we upgraded bedrooms, corridors, meeting rooms, offices and the restaurants. This case study is a great way to showcase how our project team work closely with clients to ensure that lighting projects remain within budget amounts with our team supporting client decisions on the most effective way of spending. As with many of our projects, it was essential at HIEX Redditch that we remain within budget and our team were able to ensure that this was the case. The result was a project within the budget without minimising on the impact of the upgraded lighting.

Spotlight On…
Bedrooms
Bedrooms are central to the welcoming ambience of the Holiday Inn Express Redditch. There were various lamps and fittings in each of the bedrooms that we upgraded, and it was important that there was consistency across each of these. In each bedroom there were 35W Halogen MR16s, 26W DDE compact fluorescent downlights, 9W Mirror Lights and 13W DDE Downlights. To make the lighting more consistent, we replaced both the 35W Halogens and the 13W DDE Downlights with the Philips Master Value 3.7W GU10 alongside an MLA converter or Ansell Evo Fire Fitting. This meant that there was less variation of lighting within each bedroom. We also upgraded the 26W DDE Downlight with the Integral 18W Multifit downlight and the 9W Mirror Lights with the Osram 4.5W LED PL lamp. Our clients chose to use a cool white light in the bedrooms, making them sleek and functional. You can read more about colour temperatures and how we select them in our projects on our solutions page.
The Products
This project required a wide range of different products due to the diversity of areas and requirements. We replaced 5ft twin fluorescent fittings with the Ansell Tornado 5ft LED batten in corridors, 600 x 600 fluorescent tube fittings with the Philips EcoLink 600 x 600 LED panels, 28W 2D Bulkheads with the Ansell 13W Disco Bulkhead, 50W Ar111s with the Philips LED 10.8W AR111, 150W SON lamps with the 50W LED Floodlight and 250W SON lamps with the Philips 36W Trueforce LED HPL. In addition to the lamps and fittings we also supplied transformers and drivers to ensure full functionality such as the Philips Certain voltage transformers. Several of the fittings required emergency functionality, here we supplied Integral emergency coins.

The Bottom Line…
