Crowne Plaza Reading
The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Reading is a renowned IHG hotel a stone’s throw away from our very own offices. Crowne Plaza Reading has been a loyal customer of ours for many years and conducted this project as part of their capital expenditure. Our clients requested a full LED refurbishment of their lighting, including replacing the lighting in all their 122 bedrooms. This project lasted for three weeks and we are very happy with its results.

Bedrooms
Whilst this project included replacing lighting across the whole site, most lights were in the 122 guest bedrooms. Within the guest bedrooms and bathrooms, we replaced 50W 12v MR16 lamps with Philips Master Value LED 4.9W GU10s alongside the Integral Evofire Downlight. The lamps provided were dimmable to ensure that bedrooms could be dimmed to create a soft and welcoming ambience. Additionally, the downlights were chosen because our clients had outlined that the bedrooms were areas that required fire-rated lighting aswell as IP65-rated fittings. This was to ensure that the fittings would be waterproof and fireproof for increased safety. We also replaced the 20W Spiral lamps in each bedroom with the Philips CorePro LED 8W A60. The colour temperature of the bedroom lighting was essential to ensure that bedrooms maintain the overall hospitable feel of the hotel.
The Products
The three most recommended products from this project were the Ansell Tornado Evo 5FT used to replaced T8 single batten fittings. The Philips Master Value LED 4.9W GU10 used to replace 50W MR16 Halogens and the Philips ECOLINK 600×600 LED Panel to replace the 600×600 tube fittings.

Whilst the numbers for this project are impressive, with the Crowne Plaza Hotel saving staggering amounts on energy and in money, this is only part of the picture. The impact that this lighting switch has had is significant, elevating the overall guest experience in the hotel.
This project is a classic example of ensuring that the LED replacements not only amplify the appearance of the lighting but also maintain the fundamental features required of the hospitality industry; dimming, emergency functionality, fire rated and waterproof fittings. This makes the lighting in the hotel optimal for excellent illumination with exceptional functionality.
