Return on Investment Case Study…

Best Western Cambridge Bar Hill Hotel

We replaced fluorescent lamps with significantly more efficient LED alternatives in many rooms for this hotel. From reception, restaurant, bedrooms, toilets, meeting rooms and offices to back-of-house store rooms, corridors and stairways. Such a large project  meant that our projects team had to be very efficient in the logistics of all lamps and fixtures going to the correct spaces.

Spotlight On…

The Bar Area & Meeting Rooms

In the Augusta Bar halogen MR16 lamps were in the downlights which we replaced with Philips LED Master Value GU10’s that are dimmable, used with Integral Evofire  downlights. Now with evenly distributed lighting the downlights not only give operational efficiency, they also enhance guest experience with a comfortable and inviting atmosphere.

There were meetings rooms in the hotel that had a mix of LED and halogen MR16 downlights and panels, this meant that throughtout these rooms the lighting was not uniform which didn’t give an even light. We remedied this by using LED panels that all matched, along with new ceiling tiles.

The Products

Panels used for the meeting rooms were Integral 600 x 600mm panels with TRIAC dimmable drivers. In many bedrooms downlights were replaced with Integral Evofire fire rated downlights along with Philips CorePro GU10 lamps. Ansell Disco bulkheads and Ansell Tornado battens were used in back-of-house areas. Integral downlights were used in the reception area and corridors.

The Bottom Line…

Small Changes, Big Impact

This lighting project was a whole overhaul of the hotel with a large investment but the return after the initial payout after 12 months was substantial.

With all of the lighting changes, the hotel will benefit from lower energy billls and less maintenance costs due to the longer life of the LED lamps compared to CFL and halogen.
