The store rooms, back-of-house offices, staff canteen, food and beverage stock areas and main boiler room were the focus of this lighting project. These rooms are not seen by the hotel guests but are still in use by staff which are just as important for staff safety and security.

The Back-Of-House Rooms
The back-of-house rooms are used by staff consistently throughout the day but rooms such as boiler rooms are not visited regularly so lighting doesn’t need to be on so much. Motion sensors for these are best so lighting only comes on when someone enters the room. There can also be damp, dark conditions so the best option was chosen for this. IP65 rated, LED non-corrosive battens were fitted for their longevity and efficiency as well as their excellent light distribution.

Ansell Disco bulkheads and Ansell Tornado battens were installed in the storage areas for durability and for longevity.

Small Changes, Big Impact
After our projects’ team had addressed and met the needs of the hotel by changing compact fluorescent lamps to LED versions, significant energy savings will be made over time which will contribute to the overall efficiency and carbon footprint of the whole premises. The hotel will see a return on investment in around 3 years time, giving the hotel the best lighting solution possible.
