Crowne Plaza Heathrow
The Crowne Plaza Heathrow is a prominent hotel close to one of the world’s busiest airports. It’s known for providing a high level of service and comfort to its guests. As part of Crowne Plaza’s commitment to sustainability, the hotel completed an LED lighting upgrade with our projects team. This was driven by the hotel’s desire to reduce energy consumption and to lower their operational costs. This project was extensive due to the vast areas where we upgraded the lighting to LED. A key challenge in this project was the full occupancy of the hotel, meaning that supply and installation needed to be carefully planned and executed to minimise the impact on hotel guests. In addition to this, during installation we encountered the unique challenge of unusual wiring systems in the meeting room switches which meant it was essential for our projects team to experiment and trial different switches to ensure that lighting was fully functional. Despite these hiccups, this project was a huge success and the benefits that our clients at Crowne Plaza Heathrow experienced speak for themselves.

Meeting Rooms
Due to its proximity to Heathrow Airport, our clients at Crowne Plaza were keen to include their various meeting rooms in this LED lighting upgrade. It was important that lighting was consistent across the different rooms, so we installed the same lighting products in each room. We replaced 35W halogen MR16s with the Philips Master Value 3.5W LED GU10 alongside the Integral EvoFire Fitting and
Varilight Low Voltage Transformer to ensure the lamps could be dimmed effectively. We also replaced 5ft 58W Battens with the 25W LED Bell Dura Batten and 26W Twin Downlights with the Integral Multifit Downlight. This fitting is an excellent product as it has an adjustable cutout size, helping to minimise issues with redecoration after installation. These switches to LED mean that the lighting in meeting rooms can save our clients energy whilst making the spaces conducive to productivity.
