Return on Investment Case Study…

Best Western Glasgow Argyle

The Best Western Glasgow Argyle was built on the site of a former rice mill, so it was essential to maintain the aesthetic that the hotel has incorporated that blends old and new. In this project, the site survey was completed by our Scotland team and our client’s focus on the aesthetic meant that we needed to supply products that were innkeeping with the hotel’s design. This came into effect when we were replacing bulkheads across the hotel. Rather than replacing the bulkheads completely, we replaced the gear trays within the fittings so that the preferred aesthetic of the fittings could remain unchanged. We also ensured that these updated gear trays included emergency functionality. Overall, our clients were satisfied that their lighting was upgraded whilst making no compromise on the required design.

Spotlight On…

Function Rooms

A common issue during project installation is ensuring the cutouts are the correct size and match the new fittings. We replaced the 2 x PL-C 26W 4 Pin Compact Fluorescent light fittings in the various meeting rooms; Lewis, Skye, Lismore, Bute and Arran but the cut out for these fittings were different sizes. Thankfully, we have a solution to this issue, the Ansell LED Multifit Anzo fitting 16W. This is an adjustable product where the cut-out size, wattage and colour temperature can be adjusted, making it the perfect choice to solve this issue. This also meant that the same fitting could be installed throughout the various meeting rooms without affecting the consistency of lighting design.

The Products

The challenges within this project meant that we needed to be smart about the different products that we supplied to ensure that fittings would fit cut out requirements aswell as making sure that new lighting would maintain the decor of the hotel. We replaced 26W 4 Pin Compact Fluorescents with the Ansell Anzo Multifit 16W LED Bulkhead, 18W 2D 4Pin Gear Trays with the Red Arrow 13W LED Circular Gear Tray, complete with emergency function. Also we replaced 5ft 58W batten fittings with the Ansell Tornado 30W 5ft LED batten, 28W 2D Fittings with the 14W Ansell LED Disco Bulkhead, 4ft 36W Twin Strip Lights with the Bell Dura 20W LED Batten, 35W MR16s with the Philips Corepro 3.5W GU10 alongside Integral Evo Fire Downlight and finally we replaced 9W Compact Fluorescent Spiral Lamps with the Philips Corepro/ Classic LED A60s BC/ES.

The Bottom Line…

Small Changes, Big Impact

The Best Western Glasgow Argyle blended its historic charm with modern efficiency through an LED lighting upgrade project with our projects team. By preserving original fixtures and upgrading gear trays, the hotel maintained its unique aesthetic. In function rooms, the versatile Ansell LED Multifit Anzo fitting ensured perfect lighting consistency despite varying cutout sizes. Our smart approach to this project delivered an impressive 1.31-year return on investment and over £13,000 in annual energy savings, making it a shining example of design and cost-efficiency in action.
