Best Western Derby Midland
The Best Western Derby Leyland is a part of the Best Western Signature Collection of hotels, a collection of hotels that are curated to stand out for their individuality and original personas. Therefore, it was essential to keep the desired look and overall impact of the lighting at the forefront of our minds for the duration of this project. Like other Best Western hotel projects, we surveyed this hotel at the request of Best Western Head Office and under the remit of LGH Hotel Management group. The aims of this project were to upgrade the existing compact fluorescent and halogen lamps to LED. This project was completed seamlessly, and the savings were elevated through the engagement of Tony MM’s skills to replace the LED tubes. We were overjoyed with the success of this project, especially as it is merely across the road from our client Best Western Derby Station, which we had completed a project with previously.

Bedrooms
This project included a complete overhaul of the existing lighting in the hotel, including the hotel’s 102 bedrooms where the aim was to provide lighting in keeping with the rich and indulgent decor. We replaced a range of bedroom lights including the entrance lights, bedside lights, mirror lights, desk lamps and floor lamps. In these areas we switched out the Compact Fluorescent spirals for the Bell LED 7W Candle, replaced 50W Halogen downlights with the Philips Corepro 3.5W GU10 alongside the Integral EvoFire downlight.
The Products
Whilst the bedrooms required lighting to elevate the look, this project also required more functional fittings such as 5ft T8 Battens for the back of house areas which we replaced with the Bell 25W Dura LED Anti-corrosive batten fitted with emergency function to increase safety. We also replaced 2D fittings across the hotel with the Bell LED 14W Aqua Bulkhead, also fitted with emergency function so that guest spaces are as safe as possible in the event of an urgent situation.
The Bottom Line…
Small Changes, Big Impact
This project was a delight to complete and was straight sailing from start to finish. Whilst the supply and installation of this project was straightforward, the real success of this project lay in its low paypack time. Whilst the impact of the lighting replacement is immediate, it will take a short space of time for Best Western Derby Midland to see a return on their investment and they will truly reap all the benefits from this project.
This project was a pleasure to complete, and we are so glad that Best Western are now able to show off their excellent energy efficient LED lighting.
